With former Club Captain Jon Aslet in their ranks a lot of pride and bragging rights were at stake. Livi made the long trip to the North East with a 20 man squad to allow them to step forward in preparation and also welcomed back exciting Scrum Half John Bruton, abrasive Centre Kevin Buchan and powerhouse Prop Neil Scobie to the side,
3 First Half Tries from Edwards, Ferguson and Buchan along with some great kicking from Edwards gave the blues a commanding 21-0 half time lead
In the second half the home side came out looking to use their bulk and strength but superb tackling and team defensive work by the Livi Side held them at Bay , after a good try from the Gateshead winger to cut the deficit, the try of the day came from a superb pick up by young No 8 Miller just outside the Livi 22 , Miller then fed Bruton who used his Electric pace to break down the wing finished off by an dazzling side step on the Full back to cross under the posts , Edwards completed a 100% day with the boot to give Livi a very pleasing 28-5 victory.
Overall it was a superb Team Performance and player coach Craig Bolan commented "It was hugely important for us to develop our Shape and game plan and the guys executed it superbly , the performance was testament to all the hard work we have put in over a long preseason and if we can keep building week to week we should be in good shape for the 1st League game against Dunbar".
