We are delighted to be hosting Dunbar and Haddington today who will play our first and 2nd XV. Club President Lee Anne Steel advised that she is very much looking forward to a full day of rugby. Many thanks go to our 2 referees James McDowell and Matt Poole who I'm sure we will all treat with the greatest respect, without these guys the games cannot go ahead
A very warm welcome also goes to Bruce Aitchison, and we hope our members who had their lunch with Bruce had a great meal and are looking forward to an great afternoon of rugby
Our first XV are a young team (with a few exceptions (Danny and Ben) and many home grown players who have came through the youth section. Its been great to see these guys progress through the ranks. We had a great game away from home last week, sure the people of Mid Calder were surprised to see some of the players running past the black blue in what can only be described as interesting attire.
Our guys really appreciate the home support at Almond Park and it's great to see the sun shining today. They will definitely welcome that extra boost that a home crowd bring especially against a Dunbar team that had a great win last week. The last few meets with Dunbar has given us some great games, Livingston winning the 2 matches last season and Dunbar winning 2 the season before. Today therefore promises to be a very competitive game
We are also delighted to be fielding a 2nd XV who are playing in the East reserve league. Unfortunately North Berwick were unable to field a team, so we have a friendly against a young and energetic Haddington team.
Many thanks go to all the volunteers who put lots of effort behind the scenes, too many to mention, but you know who you are. Thanks also to the ball boys. great to see you down
Good luck to all teams, and we look forward to speaking with you back in the clubhouse for some hospitality after the match
