Livingston RFC v Dalziel RFC

Livingston rugby football club secure their first home victory of the season as they defeated Dalziel 24-14 at almond park.

The hosts were desperate to bounce back after suffering an agonising late defeat at the hands of Irvine last week.

They didn't get off to the best of starts, as Darren moon converted an early penalty to give Dalziel a 3-0 lead.

However, Livingston got their noses in front as they scored the first try of the contest when Jamie King latched onto a long kick to touch down under the posts with the simple conversion added through Kerr Anderson.

A second moon penalty made it 7-6 to the hosts at the interval.

Poor tackling from livi in the early stages of the second half gifted Dalziel what would be their only try of the match as Ryan Burrell pierced the defence to score in the corner.

The missed conversion kept the deficit to four points at 11-7 to the visitors.

Livingston then turned the game completely around thanks to a blistering spell where they scored two tries in quick succession.

King grabbed his second of the match before Anderson added another. He was unable to convert his own try, but livi had made it a two score game at 19-11.

Another Dalziel penalty reduced the arrears to 19-14 entering the final period of the game but there was to be no repeat of the previous weeks heartbreak as King completed his hat trick, and clinched the bonus point by capping off a neat attacking series for Livingston.

Dalziel were unable to threaten the scoreboard again and secure a losing bonus point themselves as the almond park outfit held on for a well deserved win.

And they'll be keen to make it back to back wins for the first time this campaign when they welcome west of Scotland to Livingston on Saturday. A victory would see the hosts jump above their rivals in the national league division three table, kick off 2pm.
