Livingston Rugby Club jump to second in pile after capital win

LIVINGSTON Rugby Club moved up to second spot in the league table after their first away win of the new season.
The Livi boys beat Royal High Corstorphine in Edinburgh by a clear 10 points to continue their climb.
The first 25 minutes of the game had been a scrappy, tight affair with neither side registering any points.
It was a defensive effort from both as they struggled to assert their authority.
Livingston looked slightly more threatening in the first 25 minutes; however, they struggled to build phases and retain possession.
There was an exchange of penalties before Livingston took the lead after some good play by their pack.
Craig Bolan, Livi’s top try scorer, crossed to give the visitors a welcome lead.
Bolan dutifully converted his own try to make it 3–10.
Another penalty before the break left the score at 3–13 to Livi at the half-time break.
Livingston came out a more determined team in the second half as they broke the gain line on numerous occasions but just failed to convert breaks into tries.
Line breaks from Pete Beirne, Bolan, Glen Mushet and new Fijian fullback Ulah all helped to add to the away team’s momentum.
The pressure finally told as David Stone picked up a good pass to score in the corner.
Bolan missed the difficult conversion but Livi now looked on top.
However RHC weren’t out of it yet. They dug their heels in and to their credit got a score of their own when they turned over a loose Livi pass to score to the left of the posts.
The score was converted to make it 10–18 to Livi.
The county club struck immediately after a good driving lineout the ball was shipped to Bolan who completed his brace. He converted one again to leave the score at 10 – 25.
Livingston almost shot themselves in the foot when Livi’s No9 Beirne was binned by the ref late in the game before a silly penalty near their own line put the visitors under pressure.
RHC scored the try but were unable to convert, The final score was 25–15 to Livi.
