Livingston continued their good start to the season in East Division 1 with a comfortable 48-19 win against Borders outfit Langholm on Saturday.

Although Langholm were winless going into the game, Livingston were not taking things likely and with the disappointment of losing Talisman Scrum Half John Bruton after receiving a 2 week ban from a citation for stamping in the first game against Dunbar as well as key centres Kevin Buchan and Ross Neil being unavailable. The boys in blue had to make a few changes in the backline and young guns Alastair Williamson and Ewan Naysmith were drafted in.

Livingston received the Kick off against a strong head wind at almond park and it was evident from early on that the conditions would make it difficult for them to build any continuity. The first 20 minutes were strewn with handling errors and although Livi were dominating up front and making chances the final pass was letting them down. The breakthrough came after a simple move off the back of a scrum after some great work by the Livi Front Row of Paris,Barrett and Scobie creating a good platform the ball was worked out to flying Winger Geoff Caldwell to score his first competitive Try for Livi in the corner Naysmith failed with the conversion against the Wind and Livi were 5-0 up. This seemed to kick start Livi and 10 mins later in and almost identical move Caldwell crossed again to bring the score to 10-0 again the Wind was too strong for Naysmith and he failed with the extras.

just like last week against Duns however Livi let the opposition back into it with a soft try , good hands by the Langholm back allowed their winger to cross and with a successful conversation it was 10-7. Livi tried to respond before the break and with an infringement by Langholm in front of the posts Naysmith managed to knock over his first of the day to bring the score to 13-7 at halftime.

After the hard work of the running into the wind Livi kicked the second half off looking to use the wind to their advantage , Once again Livi were creating chances but handling errors at the last moment broke down their opportunity to score, it took some good work by the forwards to get Livi over the whitewash and Neil Scobie who had be carrying the ball well all day drove under the posts, with the easy conversion for Naysmith the score went to 20-7 , Livi were settling into the game nicely and were searching for the bonus point try and this came not too long afterwards after a good snipe by young scrum half Williamson from 5 metres out which sent the Large Almond Park wild, and with another conversion by Naysmith the lead extended to 27-7 , After that Livi were again guilty of giving away a soft score and Langholm boosted their hopes with a try and conversion to bring the score to 27-14. This didnt knock the confidence and the boys in blue continued to throw the ball around a few moments later Stand off Bolan glided through the defence to cross under the posts , this was closely followed up by veteran second row Hay who still showed a good turn of pace to cross under the posts as well , Naysmith hit both conversions and Livi now lead 41-14.

Langolm who to their credit had not given up all day worked hard for another score to bring it back to 41-19 but the day was rounded off by a good interception by young Centre Naysmith who ran in from 22 metres out and after converting his own score the score at the final whistle was 48-19.

This left Livi top of the league on Points difference from Preston Lodge however stand off and assistant coach Craig Bolan still thinks their is more to come he said " We worked hard against the wind and we are pleased some of the younger squad members gained good experience and performed well, but we need to continue to build our performances and cut the error count in both attack and defence as with some tough fixtures on the horizon we will need to be at the top of game to stay where we are at the top of the table"
