Livi put in a good display , worked hard and showed some awesome defence against a well drilled spirited North Berwick but could not get Bonus Point

Livi went into Saturdays match with North Berwick knowing it would be a tough fixture after the visitors had turned over nearest promotion rivals Preston Lodge and also running Livi close at North Berwick. Livi were also still missing Captain Andy McMahon and abrasive Aussie Number 8 Aaron Johnson who where down under. But coach Graham Ferrier had been lucky that the enforced league break had allowed some of the squad to recover from injuries.

Livi Kicked off away from the clubhouse and looked to set their stall out early had put together some good pressure and phases. They pushed deep into the North Berwick Half and after working down the blind on the stand side of the Pitch Lee Barrett looked to put the final scoring pass into Jamie King however the North Berwick Winger had seen this and intercepted on the try line , he sprinted away into space and all in the ground thought it was going to be a certain score , until the winger was felled with a hamstring injury right on half way with no one else around him.

This was a indication to livi and the home support that they would have to be on their guard throughout the whole match. Livi keeper pushing on and were thwarted by some good NB defence , the opening came with some simple phase play when Livingston broke into the 22 and after working the ball wide , Jamie King broke a tackle and crossed in the corner, Edwards missed the conversion to make the Score 5-0 to the home side.

This score galvanised the home side and the raised the intensity once again , NB to their credit were always competing and putting in some good tackles , but once again a simple phase of play allowed livi to build again , pushing into the 22 again the ball eventually broke to jamie King who powered through , he was caught just short of the line but some great support play by Alasdair Scobie allowed him to cross just to the right of the posts. Unbelievably Edwards missed the conversion in front of the posts so the score stood at 10-0 moving into the break.

Livi looked to build on this lead in the second half and started brightly with some good run by forwards like Lee Barrett, Gary Wilson and Jamie Miller this created s good platform for the backs and early on released Ross Neil who crossed out wide after evading a couple of tackles , yet again the conversion was missed this time by Bolan. The crowd now sensed the Bonus point and Livi kept pressing with both Aaaron Ferguson and Kevin Buchan coming up inches short , Once again Livi were almost hit on the break as when Bolan tried to feed in Ross Neil the NB winger intercepted on the try line and Broke away but was chased down brilliantly by Neil and Bruton . this great defence was only the start as North Berwick started to come back into the game , for fully 20 minutes Livi rarely got their hand on the ball and North Berwick pushed every part of the Livi Line , but Livi were more than stout in defence and repelled wave after wave of attack with some great defence , finally after North Berwick were penalised Livi managed to break out and although having a few late attacks could not finish the game off with the Bonus however ended the game with a welcome win and extended their unbeaten run to 16 (11 in the league).

All in all it was a good game with two competitive teams and all credit to the visitors who certainly pushed the league leaders hard , but in the end Livi were too strong and were happy to pick up a victory with no points conceded against a side that had overcame their closest rivals.

Club Vice Captain Jason Watt said "We are not getting ahead of ourselves , we know we have some tough fixtures to play and as shown by North Berwick teams will be trying their best to break our run , but we have shown in defence we are resilient and they will have to be at their best to break us down"
