In what will go down as one of the greatest days in the relatively short history of the club , Livi blew away Berwick 81-19 to clinch the Title

Aaron Johnston scored four tries as Livingston beat Berwick on Saturday to clinch the RBS East One title and set up an opportunity of a domestic treble if they can win saturdays National Shield final with Marr at Murrayfield

In what was a great day for Running rugby on a fantastic pitch the Almond Park Men got out the blocks in fine style with a try early on by Ross Neil , The determination to get the bonus point as fast as they could to ensure the league title was evident and Livi built attack after attack , this allowed Aaron Johnston to cross for the first of his four tries to bring the score to 12-0 , within 5 minutes they reached 3 tries when replacement Alasdair Scobie crossed and then Johnston secured the title after only 25mins when he crossed for Livi's fourth sending the large Almond Park crowd wild,

from this moment on the result was never in doubt but Livi kept pressing determined to give the supporters who had been with them through thick and thin a day to remember and reached the break 50-0 up. They kept up the pressure in the second 40 minutes and ran in another 31 points , With the game secure and with next week in mind Livi made a number of changes and looked to ensure key players come out unscathed , a late rally from Berwick brought them 19 points and credit to them for playing all the way to the final whistle, Thoughts did go out to the border side who were relegated as a result and never great to see a good club like that struggling.

As well as Johnston’s four tries, Andy MacMahon and Jason Watt ran in two each while Ross Neil, Alasdair Scobie, Lee Barrett, Geoff Caldwell and Gary Wilson all got in on the act and Craig Bolan kicked the rest of the points.

This means we have won 16 of their 17 league matches so far and have seen off the spirited title challenge of Preston Lodge.

All eyes now turn to the Road to Murrayfield as the Livi Faithful hope for one final push in what is sure to be a tough fixture with West 1 winners Marr. A victory in the Shield would make it one of the most successful times in the club history , and we cannot forget success has not been exclusive to the First XV with the U/18's wining the plate competition on saturday following up from their League success and the 2nd XV securing the league title also.
