Things moving forward with great win against good Haddington

The game started with a Livingston kick off and with the wind behind them they advanced into the Haddington 22, it was clear from the beginning that both teams were giving no quarter and winger Jamie King latched on to a cross kick from full back Ian Simmons to score in the corner ,conversion missed. However it was not long before Haddington’s speedy winger Ferguson evaded the poor tackling of Livingston to score in the corner. The game continued at a frantic pace with both teams giving away needless penalties ,then out of the blue a kick through ball was chased up by Morrison to score again in the corner, missed conversion ,again Livingston were made to pay for some poor tackling and Haddington scored a converted try, this seemed to make Livingston click as shortly afterwards Stevie Logan kicked the ball through the Haddington defence ,who seemed to have all the time in the world to clear it, but their centers made a complete hash of it and this allowed Stevie Logan to chase the ball into the in- goal area to touch down ,and score a try, not converted ,shortly after Livingston were awarded a penalty because of a line out infringement, this was converted by Gavin Douglas ,the clock was heading towards half time ,but still Haddington were putting Livingston under pressure ,so it was a relief to hear the whistle blow for half time .HT score Livingston 13 Haddington 17
The second half was not as frantic as the first with both teams exchanging penalties, but after some great play by both inter passing from the Livingston backs and forwards, center Andy Mc Mahon burst through the Haddington defence to score between the posts converted by Douglas .Haddington continued to put Livingston under pressure and only some great defending prevented them from scoring in the corner ,Livingston broke out of defence and a clever kick through from John Bruton gained them good distance, from the resulting line out the ball was passed out to Gavin Douglas who dropped the perfect goal between the posts, Haddington still kept the pressure on, but Livingston held on to win the game by 23 points to 17 and hopefully get their season up and running, next week we are away to Musselburgh K/O 3-00
