We learned during the week that Livingston were champions of East Reserve League 3A. Congratulations to all who have played, coached, encouraged or criticized.

On a bitterly cold afternoon we travelled to play Edinburgh Northern in our penultimate league game of the season.

Due to a misunderstanding our game kicked off 45 minutes late.

From the kick off Thomas Jackson went rampaging through the opposition defence and when he was eventually held up, Robin Phair was on hand to crash over from 5 metres out. Conversion by Cameron McLeary, 7-0 to Livi. Within a minute we scored another converted try when Mcleary ran from half way to score, 14-0 to Livi. Tries were being scored at regular intervals as we were now taking complete charge of the game, and in quick succession, Jackson and Mark Douglas scored both converted by McLeary. Score now read 28-0 to the visitors. It was now obvious that the pack could win ball quite easily and it was up to us to take the correct options to finish off their good work. There were 5 more tries before half time scored by, Connor Clark (2),Jackson and Mcleary both their second of the half and the last by Stuart Mushet who had a really good game as captain, always encouraging his team mates to play at a fast tempo. McLeary converted 2 and Ally Williamson converted 1 to bring the score to Edin Northern 0 – 59 Livingston at half time.

The second half was a repeat of the first with Livi well on top. The backs decided it was time they stepped up their game and they were rewarded with tries from Kristjan Gamble, Callum Gillespie (3) and Ian Day with a nice swerving run from half way. Williamson and Gillespie converted 1 try each before Ally Laird popped up with 2 tries of his own showing good support running to take the scoring pass on each occasion both converted by Williamson. Some slack defence allowed Northern to score a try out wide. Aaron Ferguson scored the final try of the game and also converted it to make the final score Edin Northern 5 – 109 Livingston.

We have 1 league game left against Inverleith. It would be nice to close the league season with maximum bonus points before we play off against the winners of East Reserve League 3B to find the overall champions of the region.
